New video shows suspect in unsolved Bronx murder, police say. Victim’s relatives still have hope

NEW YORK — A recently released video shows wanted persons in connection with an unsolved murder in the Bronxthe police said.

Maria Rosado, a mother of three, was shot and killed at the corner of East 170th Street and College Avenue while sitting in the driver’s seat of her car on August 27, 2022. Her boyfriend, who was in the passenger seat, was also shot but survived.

“She was just helping her boyfriend and driving him around,” said the victim’s sister, Arlene Rosado.

On Tuesday, exactly two years after Rosado’s murder, the New York Police Department released a video of suspects it plans to question as part of the investigation.

“I was devastated that these people were still at large. But I was really glad that the NYPD didn’t give up,” said Rodney Byke, a childhood friend of Rosado’s.

“I’m just glad that it still exists and that it’s still being recognized,” said Arlene Rosado.

Victim’s sister believes boyfriend was intended target of fatal 2022 shooting

Arlene said her family has not spoken to the boyfriend Maria was dating at the time, whom she calls Jose. She said he is now in prison for violating his probation. Arlene said Jose was shot before the 2022 shooting that injured him and killed Maria. Arlene believes Jose was the intended target.

“I would like to talk to him and see if he can tell me anything… It’s not easy. I miss her… She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She didn’t deserve to go like that,” said Arlene Rosado.

Maria Rosado leaves behind three children, who are now primarily cared for by Maria’s ex-husband. Arlene said the children are doing well with their father, but she still feels the pain of losing their mother every day.

Maria’s sister still feels the pain.

“It’s been two years. It’s like… I miss her. I miss hearing her voice. I miss hanging out with her,” Arlene Rosado said.
