Mega Millions jackpot rises to 7 million after another drawing with no grand prize winner

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot has risen to $627 million, with the cash option valued at $309.1 million, after Tuesday night’s drawing marked the 24th consecutive year without a major winner.

If someone wins the jackpot in the next drawing on Friday night, it would be at least the ninth-largest Mega Millions win since the game began in 2002 and the 22nd-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history, including Powerball winnings.

While no one nationwide won Tuesday’s $582 million jackpot, two second-prize tickets were sold in South Carolina that matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball. One of those tickets was purchased with the Megaplier option for an additional dollar and is worth $2 million. The other is worth $1 million.

The winning numbers from Tuesday were: 16, 18, 21, 54 And 65The drawn Mega Ball was 5with a Megaplier from 2X.

No one has won the Mega Millions jackpot since a $552 million ticket was sold in Illinois in early June.

The odds of winning a $2 ticket that matches five numbers and the Mega Ball are 1 in 302,575,350.

The odds of players matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball on a ticket are 1 in 12,607,306 and winning at least $1 million. The odds of matching four numbers and the Mega Ball and winning at least $10,000 are 931,001 to 1.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot has an estimated value of $54 million, with a cash payout option of $26.8 million.
