Sam McKinney talks about the backlash to “Daisy or Maria”

Sam McKinney has been criticized for The Comment on who he thinks the main character is The Bachelorette would be if he joined the show. During the Men tell everything In the special, Sam addressed what he said to Jenn Tran that shocked Bachelor Nation.

The discussion began during Sam’s one-on-one with Jesse Palmer. “He talks a lot about eyes – about Jenn’s eyes – maybe he’s had eyes for Maria (Georga’s) or Daisy (Kent) before,” joked Jeremy Simon, referring to The Bachelor Fan favorites from season 28. In episode 6, Sam shocked everyone, including Jenn, when he said, “I thought the Bachelorette was going to be Daisy or Maria.”

Sam immediately responded to Jeremy, “I’m really glad you brought that up. Honestly. When we all came here, we had no idea who the Bachelorette was going to be,” Sam said. “But if anyone sits up here and says they didn’t think it was going to be Daisy or Maria, you’re liars.”

He added: “What I’m trying to say with all of these thoughts is that I remember telling my parents – I was like, ‘I don’t think it’s going to work out with either of them.’ Honestly.” The Bachelorette Season 20 couple Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko appeared confused by Sam’s reaction.

On the Men tell everythingSam stressed that he meant “no disrespect” to Jenn. “If it came across that way, then again, I apologize for the way I acted because I know I have to work on that,” he said. Ricky Marinez told Sam that what he said was “disrespectful.” John Mitchell believed Sam acted out of “humility.”

When Jenn Men tell everythingshe didn’t mince her words about her feelings for Sam, saying they were on “different emotional and intellectual levels” and criticized his “blaming disrespect” toward the boys. She criticized him for blaming the producers and the “edit work” he got for his behavior. “The man I saw on TV was the exact man I sat across from for the entire journey,” Jenn said.

She continued, “If you don’t step back and look at what you’ve seen and take responsibility for your actions and grow and learn, then I feel very, very sorry for whoever you end up with, because this illusion of the world that you’re living in right now and this denial is not going to work for anyone.”
