Chappell has since thanked her fans for their support and for listening to her requests for privacy and desire for safety.

Chappell Roan has thanked her fans after expressing her very serious concerns about her personal safety and boundaries regarding “predatory” behavior towards her.

In case you missed it, Chappell – whose star skyrocketed following the success of her smash hit “Good Luck, Babe!” – posted a lengthy video on social media calling out people who harass her in public and stalk her and her family.

In a follow-up post, she released a statement on Instagram in which she sharply criticized the negative reaction to her video. The statement read: “For the past 10 years, I have been working nonstop on my project and it has reached a point where I need to draw and set boundaries.”

“I have had too many physical and social interactions without consent and I just need to make this clear and remind you that women don’t owe you anything.”

Chappell’s post continued: “I have chosen this career path because I love music and art and honor my inner child. I do not accept harassment of any kind because I have chosen this path, nor do I deserve it.”

“When I’m on stage, when I’m performing, when I’m in a costume, when I’m at a professional event, when I’m doing press work… then I’m at work. Under any other circumstances, I’m not in work mode. I’m off work.”

“I disagree with the idea that I owe people I don’t know, don’t trust, or who scare me a reciprocal exchange of energy, time, or attention just because they express admiration,” she added.

“I’m specifically talking about predatory behavior (disguised as ‘superfan’ behavior) that has become normalized because of the way famous women have been treated in the past.”

“Please do not assume that you know a lot about a person’s life, personality, and boundaries just because you are familiar with that person or their work online.”

Referring to the discussion her previous video sparked online, she continued: “If you’re still asking yourself, ‘If you didn’t want this to happen, why did you choose a profession where you knew you wouldn’t be happy with the outcome of success?’ – understand this: I’m happy with the success of the project, the love I feel and the gratitude I have. What I don’t accept is creepy people, being touched and followed.”

In an underlined portion of the statement, Chappell added: “Please stop touching me. Please stop being weird to my family and friends.”

She also asked people not to make “assumptions” about her and for her fans not to call her Kayleigh. She added that she is scared and tired and that despite being in love, she currently feels “more insecure” than she ever has in her life.

Chappell Roan releases new video after his statement on personal boundaries

Now Chappell has posted another video in which she thanks her fans for listening to her concerns. In a new clip, Chappell says: “Thank you for reading how I feel, thank you for listening. I just spoke my mind, now you know how I feel.”

“If a woman is upset and says something, the automatic reaction is, ‘Yo, calm down!’ It’s not relaxed, so I’m not going to be relaxed. I want to throw fucking parties for gays on stage, that’s my favorite part of it.”

“And I want people to feel safe at my shows and feel like we’re part of a community. I want to feel like I love you and love isn’t something rational. And I think you know that.”

Chappell has previously spoken about the harrowing level of fame she now has to deal with on stage during one of her live shows.

“I just want to be honest with people: I’m just feeling a little off today,” she said. “I think my career is just moving really fast and it’s really hard to keep up. I’ll just be honest… I’m not having an easy time today.”
