Lane Kiffin recently hired his brother Chris Kiffin as an analyst for his staff at Ole Miss for the 2024 season.

The Kiffin brothers previously worked together when Lane was the head coach of Florida Atlantic and Chris was his defensive coordinator. After 2017, Chris moved to the NFL, where he remained until he left for the Ole Miss job. Chris Kiffin was most recently the linebackers coach for the Houston Texans in 2023.

When asked at his Week 1 press conference on Monday whether he had hired his brother, Lane mentioned their late father, Monte Kiffin, who passed away in July.

“It’s really great to have him here,” Kiffin said. “Without getting too personal, I know my dad is excited about it. And this is, as he reminded me, the fourth time we’ve worked together. It’s great, especially because his four kids will be here and they actually live on the same street as me. They moved in two nights ago. So that’s really cool. It’s really great.”

While it’s a heartwarming reunion, Kiffin also emphasized the impact the move will have on football.

“And from a coaching perspective, we have someone with a lot of experience, good game planning skills and a lot of knowledge,” Kiffin said.

For Chris Kiffin, this is his third tenure at Oxford, but his first under his brother’s leadership. Chris was an assistant with the Rebels in 2007 and then returned as defensive line coach from 2012-16. Chris spent the 2017 season with his brother at Florida Atlantic, improving the team’s overall defense to 63rd in the country, up from 124th a year earlier.

The Rebels open the 2024 season on Saturday, August 31 against Furman.
