Caitlin Clark avoids serious injuries despite numerous missed throws and wins against Fever

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark sent WNBA fans into a frenzy after she fell to the floor in the first quarter against the Atlanta Dream on Monday.

Clark tried to forget her injury – she sprained her ankle after a minor collision with Atlanta’s Nia Coffey – but the Fever player went back to the bench and took off her left shoe. She remained on the bench for the rest of the quarter.

Clark returned to the game early in the second quarter and scored a quick basket that gave Indiana a 24-19 lead.

Clark left the game after seven minutes of play and scored three points with two rebounds and an assist. She enthusiastic the crowds in the State Farm Arena with a risky behind-theBack pass to Aliyah Boston in the penalty area.

The Fever didn’t have to rely too heavily on the slightly injured Clark, as Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell stepped in to make up for the rookie’s poor scoring performance. Boston and Mitchell were the only Fever players in double figures at halftime, combining for 43 points to help Indiana win 84-79.

Clark picked up the pace in the second half, finishing with 19 points (6 of 14), seven rebounds and seven assists. She missed a few assists after her teammates missed a few “easy” layups.

The fans reacted to the series of botched layups against X.

“The Indiana Fever players need to work on their layups, for goodness sake. CC should have 15 assists,” one fan posted.

Former NFL player Geoff Schwartz also chimed in: “The number of missed layups from close range in the WNBA is alarming. Especially when you have Clark’s assists.”

The Fever improved to 14-16 and 3-1 after the Olympic break. Clark and his team prepare for the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday and a rematch against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Friday.
