Lynchburg Humane Society raises money to build a new veterinary clinic for low-cost animal care

Pet owners in the Lynchburg area may soon have a new option for veterinary care after the Lynchburg Humane Society announced plans to build a new clinic.

According to LHS, their plans are intended to “serve as a lifeline for pets and their owners in need.” The construction site will be located right next to the shelter building on Old Graves Mill Road. The new building will also house the existing spay/neuter clinic currently operating in Evington.

“Pets are part of their families. When families are forced to give up their pets because they cannot afford veterinary care, it is a tragic situation for everyone – the family, the pet and the already overcrowded shelters,” said LHS Executive Director Jill Mollohan.

Mollahan emphasized the role of the Healthy Pets, Happy Families campaign in supporting the community in its goal of building the clinic.

“This project is not just about helping pets. It’s about families and our community,” Mollahan said. “Please help us make our community a better place for people and pets and fight pet overpopulation.”

LHS said they want to keep more families together by making pet health care more accessible and timely. If you would like more information or to donate to the Healthy Pets, Happy Families campaign, visit their website HERE.
