Which LEGO The Legend of Zelda model should you build?

LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 (77092) is almost here, and you’re running out of time to decide which version to build.

One of the biggest questions for fans of The Legend of Zelda awaiting the September 1 release of 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 – right after the question of price – is which model to keep. There are two kits to choose from in 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, based on Breath of the Wild and Ocarina of Time, and also use different amounts of the set’s pieces.

As detailed in our last review, there is a point in the instruction manual where you have to decide which version of the kit you want to go for. You should decide before you start building so you can appreciate the final model more quickly. Of course, there is also the option to take the set apart and start over and go for the other version. However, with 2,500 pieces and a build time of six to eight hours, not everyone will have the time to do that.

The two versions of 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 have multiple models. In the Breath of the Wild version, there is the main tree, the Master Sword base, four smaller trees, and various Koroks. In the Ocarina of Time version, there is the other representation of the main tree, Link’s house, and a few brick-built creatures. Both versions leave the Master Sword base and Link’s house, as well as the Koroks, untouched, as Brickset explains in detail.

Now that you know the full contents of each version and what was left untouched, keep in mind that no matter which version you choose, there will be quite a few leftover elements, but there will be more left over when you build the Ocarina of Time model. Luckily, BrickinNick has some suggestions on how to use these extra elements so you have them handy in case you decide to switch the Deku Tree to the other title in the future.

There’s no wrong model for 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 and you’re welcome to build back and forth, but we imagine many enthusiasts would rather finish and display their favorite model from The Legend of Zelda. With the facts outlined, you can now decide which model to build before 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 launches later this week, on September 1st.

LEGO has been a part of my life since I was a child. It all started when my brother left me 7657 AT-ST. It followed me through my early years, through school and eventually through my journalism studies. I still proudly display my entire collection, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favorite LEGO Group theme. Outside of Brick Fanatics, I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
