Jenna Ortega reveals the disturbing reason why she deleted her X-account

Jenna Ortega has spoken about the shocking reason behind the deletion of her X account.

The 21-year-old is one of the next big stars in the film and television industry and recently made waves on social media with her role in Sabrina Carpenter’s latest music video “Taste,” in which she shared a kiss with the “Espresso” star.

The Wednesday star recently sat down for an interview with the New York Times ahead of the expected release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuicewhich is due to be released next month.

She spoke openly about her childhood in the industry and the challenge of figuring out who she is as a young woman, touching on some sensitive topics.

Ortega talked about one of her upcoming projects titled Klara and the Sunan adaptation of the 2021 novel of the same name that revolves around artificial intelligence (AI) in a dystopian future.

Speaking about the controversial technological advancement, she said: “I hate AI. I mean, here’s the thing: AI could be used for incredible things.”

“I think I saw something recently that said artificial intelligence could detect breast cancer four years before the disease progressed. That’s wonderful. Let’s leave it at that.”

The Scream The actress then spoke about her negative experiences with AI when she had an X account as a teenager, adding: “Did I enjoy opening a Twitter account at 14 because I was supposed to and seeing dirty, edited content of myself as a child? No. It’s terrifying. It’s corrupt. It’s wrong.”

When asked further, she said that the very first DM she opened at age 12 was “an unsolicited photo of a man’s genitals,” which she interpreted as a sign of “what was to come.”

“I used to have this Twitter account and I was told, ‘Oh, you have to do it, you have to build your image,'” she explained.

“I deleted it about two or three years ago because there was so much hype after the show was released – these absurd images and photos, and I was so confused that I just deleted it.”

The star backed up her decision by saying: “It was disgusting and I felt bad. I felt uncomfortable.”

“Anyway, the reason I deleted it was because I couldn’t say anything without seeing something like that.

“One day I woke up and thought, ‘Oh, I don’t need this anymore.’ So I dropped it.”

Ortega is not the only celebrity to have fallen victim to deepfake pornography. Earlier this year, AI images of Taylor Swift first began circulating online – prompting many to describe the images as “crazy” and “terrifying.”

However, as the use of the technology continues to grow, corresponding AI laws are currently being developed.

In the UK, the government announced its intention to crack down on sexually explicit “deepfakes”. A press release in April said that under the new legislation, anyone who creates and shares such images without consent could face a criminal record and an “unlimited fine”.

They may also face a prison sentence if the image becomes widely distributed.
