That’s right, if you’re one of the nearly 11 million people who follow Lorde and you took a look at her Instagram account over the weekend, you would have seen a “No posts yet” message instead of the teasers the “Green Light” singer has been amassing over the past year. Instead, there was just the sentence that is seen as a harbinger of the coming era for the New Zealand star: “THE THEMES ARE ALWAYS THE SAME – A RETURN TO INNOCENCE – THE MYSTERIES OF BLOOD – A DESIRE FOR THE TRANSCENDENTAL.”

One fan wrote, “Lorde deletes her entire insta… oh LORDETEMBER is coming,” while another reacted to the deletion with a hint of frustrated anticipation, “Lorde I love you but how long are you going to keep announcing this project?”

Lorde, 27, has been slow to reveal details about her 2021 successor. Solar energy for nearly a year, and recently she posted exactly a few seconds of what sounded like new music. The two-second clip came along with a picture of Lorde in the studio, smiling as she rocks her head back and forth while the instrumental beat rocks in the background with a techno-like vibe. The caption of the post read, “I’m back in touch.”

In June, Lorde posted a series of cryptic images, writing “Use existing tools wherever possible” alongside a series of images including a copyright symbol, three variations of the letter L, the number four in parentheses, and a recycling logo. “If the tools don’t exist, you have a spiritual obligation to create them,” she added, along with another series of inexplicable images including more Ls, another 4, a series of stars, the number 27, what looked like a tarot card, the infinity symbol, a shark, a rabbit, and an Egyptian figure.

That post, along with a video of her spitting from a balcony while holding a pill labeled “spit,” were among the Instagram posts lost when feeds were deleted. To date, Lorde has not provided any further details about when her fourth album will be released.

However, she has appeared in a few other musicians’ feeds recently, including photos from the weekend with Marina (or Marina and the Diamonds) where the friends were playing pool, and at Charli XCX’s 32nd birthday party in Los Angeles on August 3, where the two danced on couches and danced to her remix of Charli’s brat Single “Girl, so confusing.”
