Harriet releases new song “Rainbow Connection”

Harriet loves to recreate the great melodies and storytelling songs of timeless 70’s pop, reaching ever-growing audiences, resulting in a consistent string of sold-out shows and millions of views on her social media. Having recently announced the release of her new album ‘Trying To Get The Feeling Again’ on October 4th, Harriet now shares the latest track ‘Rainbow Connection’. Listen HERE.

“Rainbow Connection” first became popular when it was featured in “The Muppet Movie.” Its writers, Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher, created a song for Kermit the Frog that had the delicate beauty of “When You Wish Upon A Star” or “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” but they incorporated a deeply felt, universal human emotion that gave the song a much broader appeal. Harriet’s elegant performance is more reminiscent of the Carpenters’ version, and inspired Paul Williams to express his admiration, saying: “You have a remarkable gift.”

And Paul Williams is certainly not the only one who feels this way. Harriet’s teaser of the song was viewed 4.5 million times and received almost 200,000 likes, with many praising her voice and comparing her to the legendary and beloved Karen Carpenter. It’s also touching to see how she has inspired so many people to share their own stories and personal memories of what the song means to them.

Harriet says: “Rainbow Connection is a song that really touches me as an artist. Pursuing a career in music takes a lot of perseverance and this song is about believing in yourself and having the courage to follow your passion no matter what you encounter along the way. For me it’s also about seeking a deeper connection with people and the world so that we can better understand ourselves and each other. It’s a beautiful message! We wanted my version to have an ethereal quality while the lyrics and melody shine above everything else. I hope it uplifts and transports people.”

Several of the songs on Trying To Get The Feeling Again have had a similar impact, and “Yesterday Once More” and “Sailing” have also received great acclaim. In addition to Paul Williams, other Carpenters collaborators such as John Bettis and David Pomeranz have expressed their admiration for Harriet, and Queen legend Brian May is also a fan.

Overall, the album Trying To Get The Feeling Again is like a time capsule, allowing fans to rediscover some of their favorite songs from the past while hearing them from an artist at the peak of her vocal powers. But by complementing these classics with select originals and reaching a younger audience via TikTok, it shows that nostalgia isn’t limited to those who lived through it.

“Trying To Get The Feeling Again” can be pre-ordered HERE. Signed CDs, art cards and new t-shirt designs are available.
