The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on Sunday that a moon-shaped tethered balloon named “Seouldal” made its official maiden flight last Friday in Yeouido Park in western Seoul.
The attraction, whose name combines Seoul with the Korean word for “moon,” is available every Tuesday to Sunday between 12pm and 10pm.
Passengers can enjoy the cityscape day and night while reaching a height of 130 meters (426 feet) in a helium-filled balloon with a capacity of 20 passengers.
On the outside of the giant balloon with a diameter of 22 meters, the city’s slogan is written: “Seoul, my soul”.
The fare for an adult is 25,000 won ($18.87), while minors between the ages of three and 19 pay 20,000 won. Holders of the city’s Climate Card receive a 10 percent discount.
The city administration is preparing an online reservation system and plans to allow each person to purchase a maximum of four tickets.
The operating schedule may be adjusted depending on weather conditions. Such changes can be found on the Instagram page with the handle “@seouldal_official”.
