RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – A man was arrested in Arizona on Saturday in connection with the investigation into a murder in Raleigh.

Raleigh police said 39-year-old Mario Fernando Sevilla Cubias was arrested by Arizona Department of Public Safety officers and is awaiting extradition to North Carolina for the murder of 32-year-old Angel Cirilo De Leon Andrade.

According to police, officers responded to calls from the 700 block of Navaho Drive near I-440 North on August 5. When officers arrived, they found De Leon Andrade suffering from a gunshot wound.

He later died in hospital.

Authorities said Cubias’ whereabouts are unknown and part of the ongoing investigation.

Raleigh police also arrested 54-year-old Wanda Geomey Moreta-de-Hernan and charged her with aiding and abetting murder.

“This is an example of the tremendous intergovernmental cooperation that sends a message to violent offenders: It doesn’t matter where you run,” said RPD Chief Estella Patterson. “RPD will work closely with our federal, state and local partners across the country to bring justice to crime victims and get dangerous offenders off the streets.”
