“Thursday Murder Club” author Richard Osman confirms new book series

Richard Osman will publish the first volume of a new book series on September 12th.

The former ‘Pointless’ co-host – who is best known in the literary world for his hugely popular ‘Thursday Murder Club’ book series – is “proud” to confirm that his new work will be titled ‘We Solve Murders’, but the 53-year-old star is “nervous” about what readers might think of his new project.

In a newsletter to his fans, he wrote: “I am proud, excited, delighted and, if I’m being completely honest, nervous to announce that my new book, ‘We Solve Murders,’ will be released on September 12th.”

“Not just a new book, but a brand new series with brand new characters and, don’t worry, brand new murders.”

Richard’s new book tells the story of Amy Wheeler, a bodyguard for billionaires, and her father-in-law Steve Wheeler, who owns a small detective agency but is generally quite content with his quiet life in the New Forest.

But everything changes for Amy when she takes on a new client, the globally successful crime writer Rosie D’Antonio, and a dead body turns up. She asks Steve for help.

Richard added: “The book was great fun to write. I fell in love with these characters and I hope you will too.”

“They are very different. Amy likes jumping out of planes and kickboxing bad guys, while Steve prefers to stay at home with his cat Trouble and take part in the pub quiz every Tuesday.

“They both made me laugh and cry.

“I think you’ll also enjoy the fifth wheel in their relationship: the client Amy protects, the world’s best-selling crime writer Rosie D’Antonio.

“She’s like Jackie Collins meets Lee Child and makes me laugh on every page.”

Richard felt like he was “cheating” his four main characters from the Thursday Murder Club by writing a new book series.

However, he confirmed that a new Thursday Murder Club novel will be published next year.

He said: “I know it is difficult for all of us to betray Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim, but we must remember that they will be back next year after a wonderful recovery.”

“We Solve Murders” can be pre-ordered from Penguin.
