Montana offers a great stopover on the way to the rodeos in the northwest

Fittingly, Montana man Haven Meged won the all-around title in Bozeman. The No. 3 tie-down roper in the world continues to do well at all of Montana’s recent rodeos – winning money not only in Bozeman, but also in Chinook, Missoula, Kalispell, Baker and Billings.

RC Landingham (No. 4) and Kade Sonnier (No. 22) share the win in bareback riding. Landingham is more than $32,000 behind season leader Keenan Hayes. $26,000 separates Sonnier from Bubble (Wayon Bourgeois).

With his win in Bozeman, JD Struxness is getting dangerously close to the $100,000 mark for the 2023-2024 season. Struxness also picked up another big win in Caldwell, Idaho, where he won both the final round and the average.

Pedro Egurrola and veteran Cory Petska won the team roping. This team also performed well in Caldwell, Idaho, placing third in the finals and on average.

Tanner Butner won the saddle bronc riding. It looks unlikely that he will qualify for the NFR again in a row, as Butner is just under $40,000 away from the bubble. Butner is ranked No. 8 in the Montana circuit, however.

Canadian Jason Smith edged out Bozeman in the all-around race. Smith is outside the top 50 in the PRCA world rankings, but sits comfortably in 6th place in the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association’s Maple Leaf Circuit.

Jordan Driver and TRHEAVENSILLUMINATED “Cyrus” won the barrel racing in Bozeman. Cyrus also picked up a sixth place finish in Logan, Utah that same week. This duo also made it to the finals in Caldwell, Idaho, where they averaged fourth and fifth place.

Jordan Spears’ green chaps reflected his winning streak in the arena. Spears won the bull riding on Phenom Genetics’ 025 Ace with a score of 85.5.

Macy Young, the number 9 breakaway roper in the WPRA world rankings, won in Bozeman. With over $70,000 in winnings, Young has a good chance of qualifying for the NFBR.
