The picture above says it all about me. I love technology. And “Jurassic Park”, the best OLED TVs and oxygen… in that exact order. When I’m not writing saucy laptop comments, video game articles and articles about why the visual effects in House of the Dragon are kind of crappyI am the Baron of Binge Watching.
As for my work/relaxation setup, I can sum it up in three words: “Powerful but expensive.” Also, I may have an OLED “problem.” Technically, owning 7 “light emitting diode” devices is a little crazy, there’s no doubt about that.
The products I’ll be recommending (like the one above) range from semi-affordable to extravagant. My main goal here is to recommend some technology that I really love and that (if you can afford it) will bring you as much joy as it has in my life.
So get ready for a list of suggestions for super-geeky tech that will hopefully come in handy – whether at work or in your free time.
OLED in the head
There’s no getting around it: I’m obsessed with OLED technology. I bought my first OLED TV in 2015. Since then, I’ve been constantly upgrading. best OLED TVs at an unhealthy pace.
I currently own two OLED TVs, one 49-inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 Super ultra-wide monitor and a M4 iPad Pro. That’s a disproportionate number of screens, no matter how perfect the technology’s black levels are. But… they’re all amazing displays in their own way.
While my beloved LG G3 OLED is not currently discounted, the 65-inch LG C4 OLED TV is on sale at Amazon for $1,696.
Matthew Murray calls LG’s latest mid-range model “a beautiful OLED TV with a few caveats.” Having owned the company’s OLED TVs for years, I can say that these minor flaws are easily overlooked.
My passion for high-quality display technology is largely driven by my love of video games, and there are few better TVs to enjoy this medium on than the South Korean company’s incredible OLED set.
But like I just said, the main reason I own so many screens is my love of gaming. It’s a decades-long passion that I’ll probably never let go of. Hopefully I’ll be alive in 30 years and playing Grand Theft Auto 14.

My gaming obsession dates back to the age of six when I instantly fell in love with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Sega Game Gear in 1992.
I love the best Steam games and I also enjoy the best PS5 games. While the PS5 Slim isn’t currently on sale, I’d still say it’s the console to have at $449. Combine it with the Nintendo Switch OLED and you’ve got most of the hottest titles covered.
Sony’s console has easily beaten the Xbox Series X this generation simply because it has a better library of exclusives, such as the incredible Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Gran Turismo 7.
As for PC gaming, I almost exclusively use a DualSense Edge to play the best PC games. I have a desktop with RTX 4090 that I mostly work and play on, but I also recently picked up the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024), which we currently rate as the best gaming laptop. It’s a 14-inch OLED wonder.
For my everyday work tasks, I use the Alienware Pro wireless gaming keyboard. Although it’s designed for gaming, it’s also a nice keyboard to type on. And Dell’s 75% form factor keyboard looks great too, thanks to its LED lighting.
My favorite clue? That’s the Cooler Master MM731 gaming mouse, which is currently on sale for $58 at Amazon. It normally costs $74, so if you opt for this deal at the time of writing, you’ll save $16. With a DPI measurement of 19,000, it’s extremely responsive, and its subtle hexagonal RGB lighting looks beautiful.

What is my most valuable possession?
Well, it’s not a piece of technology. It’s that furry guy up there. Bear is my beloved husky who brings me constant joy.
He is better than the best OLED TVs or even my favorite game of all time, Red Dead Redemption 2.
