When will the Woodstock and Cobb trail systems be connected?

Woodstock residents will soon see an improvement to the city’s trail system as work progresses on the Noonday Creek Trail extension. This new section of the trail will begin at the Woodstock Arts Green, pass under Highway 92 and connect to Noonday Creek Park in Cobb County.

The expansion, which will close a 1.8-mile gap, will ultimately connect Woodstock’s trail network with existing trails in Cobb County, providing a direct connection to the wider Silver Comet Trail.

Woodstock Mayor Michael Caldwell was on site Friday as work was underway on the trail extension. Caldwell said the new section of the trail is expected to open around this time next year.

Construction was scheduled to begin in early 2024, and so far construction work is on schedule.

Funded by a combination of federal transportation grants and local contributions, this expansion is part of a long-term plan that began over a decade ago. The City of Woodstock is overseeing the project and working closely with neighboring counties.
