Isn’t “Only Connect” remarkably similar to the New York Times puzzle “Connections”?
Victoria Coren Mitchell is convinced of this. On June 12 last year The NYT introduced “Connections,” the newspaper’s new game – a grid of 16 words that must be sorted into four connected groups of four.
“I’m so excited to share with you the game I’ve been working on, Connections! I had a lot of fun making it and hope you enjoy playing it,” tweeted Wyna Liu, the newspaper’s games editor.
Two days later, Coren Mitchell replied: “Did you know that this show has been on British television since 2008?! … It’s so similar that you must know?”
The NYT denied any, um… connection.
