Bumpy bike ride for Baltimore Ravens quarterback to training

With the Baltimore Ravens visiting the Green Bay Packers for a joint practice on Thursday, it was only right to follow the Packers’ old tradition of riding their bikes to practice. It was a fun welcome before a day of exciting competition, maybe a little too fun in some cases.

In a video that went viral, Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson nearly lost control of his bike while greeting fans. Luckily, he got it back under control just in time and even joked about it later.

However, it wasn’t all bad for Jackson, as he was able to greet many enthusiastic fans and even sign a few autographs before he left.

Other Ravens like Justin Tucker and Rashod Bateman also participated in the tradition, but not everyone enjoyed it. Head coach John Harbaugh took a golf cart to practice instead, as he was a little concerned about the safety of the bikes after some warnings from Packers players.

“They brought me in a cart,” Harbaugh said. “I could probably get on the bike. Some of the Packers players told me you have to look at the bike really closely. The quality of the bike is not guaranteed. Usually they’re really good, but you have to make sure the chain is oiled — three-in-one oil — and that everything is running smoothly. I don’t want to see the chain break. I don’t want to see it get stuck. I don’t want to see that on video, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

After a good day of practice and thankfully no fights, the Ravens and Packers will face off at Lambeau Field on Saturday to conclude their preseason training camp, kicking off at 1 p.m. ET.
