Logan Paul speaks out after video claims he pushed dog off boat

Logan Paul has vehemently denied allegations that he pushed his dog into a lake because of “content” after one of his old videos resurfaced online.

In a 2020 YouTube video titled “Can I borrow $250,000?”, the internet star and wrestler is on a boat with his friends and his dog Broley. At one point in the clip, his dog jumps into a lake and panic ensues. Paul follows him shortly after and rescues Broley.

The video recently resurfaced, and some social media users are speculating that Paul intentionally pushed the dog into the lake. On Thursday, a Reddit user created a post titled “Logan Paul tries to kill his dog by pushing him into a boat propeller for ‘content’ and pretending he just jumped off” – which he posted to /r/h3h3productions, the subreddit of the YouTube channel h3h3Productions, created and run by Ethan and Hila Klein.

At the time of writing, the content of the post had already been deleted, leaving only the title. However, users who commented on the post called Paul “disgusting” and accused him of endangering animals.

The day the Reddit post appeared, Paul X (formerly of Twitter) took to the court to set the record straight, posting a clip of the moment Broley jumped into the lake “in slow motion and HD.”

Newsweek Contacted spokespeople for Paul and h3h3Productions via email outside of normal business hours to request comment.

Paul first posted on X a screenshot of a comment he made on the original YouTube video four years ago, which read: “To clarify in the comments: We would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER push Broley off the boat. He jumped and one hand was behind him petting him. When he jumped, we tried to grab him, but we ACTUALLY did NOT push him. Pay attention to his body language and you can clearly see that the little mutt is jumping up on his own. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.”

One viewer responded to the YouTube comment, “The sad thing is people won’t believe this,” to which Paul replied, “Yeah, I just watched it in slow motion. I didn’t even touch him and when he jumped, the hand followed. Fuck you.”

Paul captioned the post “I would NEVER do that” and at the time of writing, the post had already been viewed 1.6 million times.

Paul then uploaded the slow motion clip of Broley jumping into the water. In the video, he can be heard saying, “Broley, don’t do it,” before the dog jumps off the boat. After that, Paul repeatedly yells, “Stop the boat.”

After Broley jumps, the video slows down and the text appears on the screen: “Two different hands try to stabilize Broley to prevent him from jumping (pulling back).”

One X user commented on Paul’s post: “People are trying everything they can to cancel you (hand over face emoji) and not even acknowledging the fact that there is at least a possibility that you are trying to grab him before he jumps… Instead they are jumping to the extreme conclusion that you are ‘hurting your dog for a vlog’ smfh.”

Paul is no stranger to online criticism, having been involved in various controversies before. At one point, he was accused of “scamming” his followers with CryptoZoo, a cryptocurrency game he produced in 2021.

At the time, the influencer described CryptoZoo as a “really fun game that you can make money with.” In December 2022, YouTuber Stephen “Coffeezilla” Findeisen published a series in which he called the project Paul’s “biggest scam.”

While Paul threatened to file a defamation suit, the incident deescalated when Findeisen wrote on X that Paul had called and was “dropping the lawsuit threats.”

Paul faced criticism in 2022 after making serious tax fraud allegations against Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny. Paul was also previously accused of taking advantage of Puerto Rican Act 22. The law allows global residents to move to the U.S. territory and avoid paying taxes on transactions such as stocks and real estate.
