Heat and humidity increase this weekend – ABC 6 News

The assumption that we are in for a warm and humid weekend here in the entire Weather First region has not changed!

The pattern in the upper atmosphere over the next few days will feature a ridge of high pressure forming in the southwest. This ridge will gradually extend northward across parts of the Midwest, forcing the subtropical jet stream northward into Canada. The result? Warmer, muggy weather is on the way.

Temperatures in the region will rise to around 27°C on Saturday, while dew points will fall to below 21°C on Saturday afternoon. There will be plenty of sunshine, so it will feel very warm.

Sunday will be even warmer with highs of around 31°C. Dew points are likely to be between 21°C and 21°C with plenty of sunshine on Sunday. When you add up the temperatures, dew points and sunshine, we can expect a heat index of well over 38°C!

Monday won’t be much better. The mountain ridge will still be directly above us, bringing warmth and humidity. Maximum temperatures will again be between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius, with dew points back at 21 degrees Celsius.

In this heat, it is dangerous to stay outside for long periods of time. Regular water and shade breaks are very important measures to prevent heat-related illnesses!

There may be isolated showers and thunderstorms throughout the weekend and into early next week, but the probability is very low and there is no cause for concern at this time.
