With the 2024 Paris Olympics coming to an end, it is surely time to say what an epic sporting event it was. Although the focus was mostly on the athletes’ victories and achievements, this year’s Olympics were one of the most legendary events. To make it even more unforgettable, the Red Hot Chili Peppers delivered a powerful set that had everyone in attendance screaming at the top of their lungs.
The performance was part of the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where he appeared alongside several other celebrities.
The event, which took place on August 12, 2024, was a traditional handover ceremony and featured legendary actor Tom Cruise as well as stars such as R&B sensation HER, who performed her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner.
After the Top Gun star’s performance was over, the Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage.
The Los Angeles-based band took the stage at Venice Beach in front of a huge and already enthusiastic crowd. RHCP performed their 2002 hit “Can’t Stop” in their typical high-energy style.
The closing ceremony is an event where the spotlight passes to the next host city, in this case the star-studded city of Los Angeles.
To end this great event in epic fashion, Tom Crusie did something in true Hollywood style. The Eyes Wide Shut actor appeared from the roof of the Stade de France and collected the Olympic flag from the stage below.
The Edge of Tomorrow actor was later seen on a motorcycle carrying the Olympic flag out of the stadium. A pre-recorded segment then showed the vampire actor’s interview on the streets of Los Angeles, where he carried the flag as a message that the next Olympic Games will be held in the city in 2028.
Several other celebrities also made appearances during the event, including NBC host and rapper Snoop Dogg, pop star Billie Eilish and Dr. Dre.
The French artist who took the stage at the closing event was a rock band called Phoenix, who performed their hits 1901 and Lisztomania. Also on hand was Vampire Weekend singer Ezra Koenig.
At the start of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, heavyweights Gojira surprised everyone with their magnificent performance, performing the French song Ah! Ça Ira (Oh! It shall pass) in heavy metal style.
