And ironically, her inspiration did not come from “Carrie,” at least as far as we know.

Carrie‘ centers on a shy high school student named Carrie White who discovers she has telekinetic powers. Bullied by her classmates and abused by her family, Carrie’s powers manifest in destructive ways. As tensions rise, Carrie is pushed to the sidelines, leading to a tragic and unforgettable prom where her powers are unleashed with devastating consequences, changing the town of Chamberlain, Maine forever.

The novel was published in 1974, and the film adaptation followed a few years later. Carrie Underwood was born in 1983, and while we couldn’t find any concrete evidence that the future American Idol winner was specifically named after Stephen King’s character, it wouldn’t be surprising given the success of the story and the era.

However, it is not Stephen King’s story that we want to focus on when it comes to Carrie Underwood.

This music video for Underwood’s fourth studio album “Blown Away”, “Two Black Cadillacs”, is heavily inspired by Stephen King’s book “Christine.’

Christine is about an obsessed, evil car. The story follows a high school student who is obsessed with restoring the car, which he naturally names Christine.
