Pat McAfee defends herself again over Caitlin Clark.

The ESPN star caused a stir again when the Fever rookie was mentioned on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Wednesday.

“The universe told me not to talk about her,” McAfee said of Clark in a conversation with veteran sports reporter Rich Eisen.

The former NFL punter added that he was “an idiot” because of his previous comments about Clark, whom he called a “white bitch” during a June 3 episode of his show.

He apologized publicly and contacted Clark at that time.

Some on social media thought McAfee was referring to ESPN when he said “God” and “the universe” told him to stay away from conversations about Clark.

“That’s not true. I said ‘God’ and the ‘universe’ told me to stop talking about it. This was done by saying something that inevitably always caused utter chaos,” McAfee wrote in a response tweet.

“It was not good for my life or the program. They took a completely false headline from a moronic account and blew it up. ESPN has no say in my show whatsoever. Thanks again.”

In June, McAfee, 36, got into trouble when he discussed Clark, the 2024 WNBA Draft class and their impact on the league’s viewership this season.

“I want the media people to keep saying, ‘This rookie class, this rookie class, this rookie class.’ No, just call it what it is – there’s a white bitch on the Indiana team who’s a superstar,” McAfee said at the time.

Just a few hours later, McAfee apologized to X.

“I shouldn’t have described Caitlin Clark as a ‘white bitch,'” McAfee said. “No matter what the context… even if we’re talking about race being a reason for some of the things that happen… I have way too much respect for her and women to put something like that out there.”

“I meant it to be flattering, as was the entire segment, but a lot of people are saying it certainly wasn’t. That’s 100% on me and I apologize for that… I also sent Caitlin an apology.”

Clark never addressed the situation publicly.
