The lawyer turned magazine publisher knew how to knock women off their feet. Sex and the City Actress Sarah Jessica Parker – who has been in a relationship with Robert Downey Jr. with John in 1991 – was thrilled when he asked for a date. (SJP’s showbiz buddy, director Adam Shankmantold a magazine that she called him and screamed, “You won’t believe who asked me out!” after Kennedy made the first move.)

And Sharon Stone allegedly had a steamy affair with John in Martha’s Vineyard in 1995. “It only lasted a few days,” an insider said. He and the uninhibited Material Girl got together in 1988, but “he was far too straight for her sexually,” said a friend of the singer.

Before her death in 1994, John’s mother Jackie was very interested in her son’s love life and often interfered. (She was the one who set him up with Brooke.) “It was always hard for his girlfriends to meet Jackie for the first time,” J. Randy Taraborelli wrote in The Kennedy heirs. John and Daryl ended their on-off relationship in 1994, partly because she couldn’t handle the media attention and felt humiliated by John’s hesitation to propose. “I get asked about (marriage) all the time,” she once said. “Even (my plumber) asks me. I’m just trying to get my pipes fixed. Why can’t people talk about something else?”
