BOSTON – The Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a Dorchester man on gun and drug trafficking charges late Tuesday night following a routine traffic stop.
On Tuesday, August 20, at approximately 10:19 p.m., patrol officers observed a vehicle without headlights on Seaver Street and Blue Hill Avenue.
They initiated a traffic check using the blue lights and siren of their patrol car.
The driver, 30-year-old Antoiwane Hawkins-Davis, was involved in a conversation with officers.
After further investigation, they asked Hawkins-Davis to exit the vehicle.
During a body search of the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a loaded firearm inside.
Upon further investigation, a discarded plastic bag was found on the street containing stone-like substances that were later identified as crack cocaine.
The firearm was a Smith & Wesson SD9 with one cartridge in the chamber and fifteen cartridges in the magazine.
The plastic bag contained 102 individual bags of crack cocaine weighing approximately 36 grams.
Hawkins-Davis was arrested and faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm (recidivism), unlawful possession of ammunition (recidivism), possession of a firearm in conjunction with a prior/violent drug offense, possession of a firearm during the commission of a serious felony, Class B firearm trafficking, and resisting arrest.
He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
