Chris Jericho will defend the FTW Championship against HOOK at AEW All In and recently spoke about preparing for the match compared to his match with Will Ospreay in 2023. Jericho spoke to the Daily Star and discussed his storyline with HOOK. You can see the highlights below (according to Wrestling Inc):
To prepare for the game compared to last year: “For me, it’s all about the storyline. Last year, Will (Ospreay) was in the G1 (Climax), so we only had a couple of weeks to build it up, and I think we did a good job of that… It was more of a dream match, Jericho versus Ospreay… it basically sold itself. This year is different… The storyline we had was six months ago, and I really enjoyed it.”
To achieve his goals with the action: “The plan was for (HOOK) to learn and get a main role on AEW Dynamite. This is kind of the last fight and I think we told the story.”
Take time to build the story: “The culmination of this great story that we told… I think the story came across perfectly. Hook did a great job. He’s gotten so much better in the last six months. I think the fans enjoyed it and like I said, that’s the most important thing for me.”
