Normally, Snoop Dogg isn’t willing to pull out a blunt for just anyone, but he made a special exception for their first meeting with Sir Paul McCartney.
During a recent sit-down with Complex and Dr. Dre, Snoop recalled an unexpected encounter with the Beatles member after a performance in Los Angeles. “I’ve never met him before, but I’m a damn Beatles fan,” he said. “I’m sitting in the back smoking and they’re like, ‘Sir Paul would like to meet you.’ So I’m like, ‘Oh, seriously? Wait a minute.'” Although Snoop did not mention where the meeting took place, photos surfaced showing the two together backstage at a Jimmy Buffett tribute in May.

Snoop explained that he started putting out the blunt in his hand out of respect for the music icon, but when he entered the room, McCartney told him to keep going. “Cuz comes in the room and says, ‘Don’t put that down,'” Snoop said cheerfully. “He hugs me and when he meets me, it’s like, ‘Shit. Paul McCartney knows who the f*** Snoop Dogg is.'”
When asked if he would be interested in collaborating, Snoop quickly replied yes. He added, “That’s the experience I love… when the people you respect respect you.”
Paul McCartney is currently preparing for a series of autumn tour dates (tickets available here), while Snoop Dogg had fun at the 2024 Olympics before performing at this year’s closing ceremony.
