Le Bourdoulous made a splash in his first season in Kansas City, tying the team’s highest scoring effort with three goals and ranking third in the Summit League with six assists. He started 14 of 17 games, played 1,347 total minutes and attempted 55 shots, a team-high. He scored his first goal of the year on September 4 against Drake, also providing two assists. His biggest assist of the season came in the Roos’ upset Summit League semifinal match against league leaders Denver, where he also converted a penalty to help the Roos advance.
Fernandez enters his second year after proving to be a key part of Kansas City’s midfield in his first year. He started 16 of 17 games and played 1,211 total minutes, which ranks fifth on the team. He also scored one goal this season, a 65th-minute cracker in the Roos’ Oct. 18 win over Western Illinois. Fernandez played 88 minutes in KC’s semifinal victory over Denver, converting the game-winning penalty to send the Roos to the final.
The team was selected to finish fourth, just behind Denver, Omaha and Oral Roberts. Since returning to the league in 2020, KC has finished fourth in each of the last four seasons. The Roos will be looking to improve this season, as only the top two teams will advance to the league championship, which will be played on November 16.
