The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has requested information on the bank accounts of Awami League presidium member and former MP Sheikh Selim.
The tax authority also demanded information about the bank accounts of Sheikh Fazle Fahim, former president of FBCCI and son of Sheikh Selim.
Tax Zone 15 of NBR has issued a letter to all banks, financial institutions, National Savings Directorate and Bangladesh Post in this regard under Section 200 of the Income Tax Act, 2023.
The letter contains information about the bank accounts and credit cards of Sheikh Selim, his father, mother, son, daughter and brother, which are in their joint names, or about the companies they own.
Sheikh Selim is a taxpayer in tax zone 15.
This step is part of the tax authority’s regular initiative to prevent tax evasion.
Previously, Tax Zone 15 had sent such a letter asking for information about the bank accounts of businessman S. Alam and his family members.
