Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb end the “Today” dating advice segment: “Did a man write this?”

Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager were completely unimpressed by a Today Segment that gave singles some questionable dating advice.

While Kotb admitted that first dates can be “awkward,” Bush Hager noted that a “good conversation” may actually be all you need to make a first date go well.

“And I don’t mean ‘What was the last movie you saw?'” Kotb replied. “Ugh, I want a real conversation.”

Well, that Today Segment certainly didn’t deliver. The co-hosts looked at a list of first date questions that were Cosmopolitanincluding “What would you like to learn?”

Kotb was the first to speak up, after audibly sighing during the broadcast. “I don’t think that’s a good thing, because that’s too much pressure, don’t you think? Most people are just about able to cope,” she said.

Bush Hager agreed, adding, “No, I know, that embarrasses me. I also think that people can barely make it to work and back… Okay, here’s another question that’s unfortunately not so great: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?”

Kotb laughed at the question and jokingly replied, “What would that be? What? To be invisible?”

Bush Hager also seemed fed up with the segment, as she countered, “Seriously, time travel? I’d like to go back two minutes before we started this chat.” She and Kotb high-fived each other, laughing.

But Bush Hager simply let the next question, “What are you looking for right now?”, get out of hand.

“No, guys! No, no, no! First date?!” she exclaimed. “If I asked (my husband) Henry Hager what he was looking for right now, he would freak out.”

Kotb pointed out that first dates are about finding “common ground” with the other person. However, Bush Hager also noted that she could recall the conversations she had with her husband on their very first date – and they certainly didn’t ask each other what superpowers they would like to have.

“We met 20 years ago in September… and he picked me up and I was so nervous, and he was so nervous, his ears were red,” she recalled. “I remember we talked about his father, who has now passed away, and how much he influenced him… I remember that conversation and I’m afraid when you talk about superpowers, you forget that.”

And don’t even think about asking someone if they are a picky eater.

“I don’t understand! How can this be – did a man write this? No offense, no offense!” said Bush Hager.

“Does that mean you’re an adventurous eater?” Kotb asked. “It doesn’t matter. It’s such a small thing.” She then pointed out that journalist and model Maria Shriver, a good friend of hers, “eats chicken fingers.”

Bush Hager agreed, adding, “Some of the most adventurous people I know eat like a kid. My dad always says, ‘I’ll have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich,’ but he’s done some cool stuff!”

Today with Hoda & Jenna airs weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
