Patrick Mahomes reacts to a video of him cracking jokes during a workout

Patrick Mahomes thinks his jokes leave something to be desired.

On Sunday, August 11, the Kansas City Chiefs released a video on their official Instagram page as part of their “Mic’d Up” series. The video shows the 28-year-old star quarterback preparing for a practice – and entertaining his teammates and coaches with plenty of jokes and stories.

At one point in the video, Mahomes can be seen suddenly realizing that he is not wearing his padded pants and wondering out loud if anyone would notice.

“Dude, I didn’t put my pants on,” he can be heard telling his teammates, including offensive lineman Creed Humphrey. “Do you think anyone notices?”

“I forgot my padding,” he announces to one of the team’s coaches as they wait for their next play. “Maybe he thinks my quads are so big they look like pants.”

“I doubt it,” the coach jokes dryly.

Another part of the video shows Mahomes cheering on his teammates (and himself), yelling “Get out of the gate!” after they complete a pass during practice. Another clip shows the team warming up while some top 40 songs play in the background.

“It’s just crazy how much music I don’t know out here. I know I’m getting old,” Mahomes says. “I listen to all kinds of music too. And I just don’t know my way around out here. I’ve never heard this song in my life.”

“QB1 has jokes 🤣,” the Chiefs wrote under the Instagram post.

In the comments, Mahomes reacted to the video, joking that he’s “out here talking about nothing 😂😂😂.”

The Chiefs’ funny video series was shared just one day after the team faced the Jacksonville Jaguars in an NFL preseason game on Saturday, August 10, at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

Before the game, the Chiefs posted footage on their Instagram account of Mahomes giving his teammates a pep talk. Another video from the team shows Patrick quickly signing a young fan’s shirt and posing for a photo with a man and a baby.

The Chiefs suffered a tough loss on Saturday, losing 26-13 to the Jaguars, despite several of Mahomes’ teammates – including rookie running back Carson Steele, who scored a powerful touchdown, and controversial kicker Harrison Butker, who converted a 45-yard kick – making some solid plays.

Mahomes is currently awaiting the arrival of his third child. Just last month, his wife Brittany announced she is pregnant and expecting their third baby in a joint Instagram reel, which featured her, Patrick and their children – daughter Sterling, 3, and son Bronze, 20 months – laughing and dancing around with ultrasound pictures.
