The Ministry of Global Communications has released the 2024 edition of the UN map.
The map succinctly shows how the work of the United Nations and its organizations impacts the lives of people around the globe.
The United Nations:
- Supports and protects 131 million people fleeing war, hunger and persecution
- Provides food and assistance to more than 150 million people in over 120 countries and territories
- Provides vaccines to 45 percent of all children worldwide, saving 3 million lives each year
- Works with 196 nations to keep global temperature rise well below 2°C/3.6°F
- Maintains peace with 71,000 peacekeepers in 11 missions worldwide
- Address the global water crisis affecting over 4 billion people worldwide
- Protects and promotes human rights worldwide and through 80 treaties/declarations
- Coordinates $46 billion appeal to meet humanitarian needs of 180 million people
- Uses diplomacy to avoid conflict: supports around 50 countries in their elections every year
- Supports over 11 million women per year with sexual and reproductive health services
The Department of Global Communications has published the UN Card annually since 2009.
The maps are available in the 6 official languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) and Portuguese. Hindi and Kiswahili will be published as soon as translations are available.
