Justin Jefferson knows how to make an impression on the field, as the Minnesota Vikings star showed in Saturday’s preseason game – and he didn’t even play.
Jefferson did not play, but was wired for the game against the Las Vegas Raiders, which led to some interesting and bizarre moments.
At first, Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell didn’t even know Jefferson was wearing a microphone. Still, he saw the wide receiver talking to himself on the sideline. The coach finally realized it in the second half.
“Why on earth is he standing there all alone, talking to himself? Now I know,” O’Connell said to a laughing Jefferson.
“Now you know, man – now you know,” Jefferson replied.

Jefferson got some movement, sprinting down the sidelines on key plays, including rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy’s first NFL touchdown pass, a 45-yard pass to Trishton Jackson. On a later touchdown pass from McCarthy to Trent Sherfield, Jefferson noticed the broken coverage before the quarterback had even completed his dropback and yelled “Got it!” four times just as the ball went airborne.

Players with microphones are always fun, although it might not be so much fun when baseball players do interviews with the commentators during the game. But some players are better at this role than others. Jefferson seems to be one of those guys.
