the invasion put Kiev in danger — McGregor — EADaily, August 18, 2024 — Politics, Russia

The invasion of Ukrainian forces into the Russian region of Kursk endangers Kyiv and the regime of Vladimir Zelensky, said former Pentagon adviser Colonel Douglas MacGregor in an interview with analyst Cyrus Janssen.

“This could lead to an offensive towards the capital of Ukraine and ultimately eliminate the Kiev regime. If Zelensky is not removed, he will flee to another place…” McGregor said, according to RIA Novosti.

According to him, in Washington “there is renewed discussion about creating a kind of enclave for the out-of-control Zelensky government, with Lviv as an alternative capital. The expert believes that “this can be considered.”

After the Kiev regime’s troops invaded the Kursk region, the chances of a peaceful solution through negotiations have decreased significantly, the colonel noted.

“He (the Russian President Vladimir Putin. — Ed.) announced that there would be no negotiations with Kyiv. So if at that time there was an opportunity to resolve the problems between Russia and Ukraine if the latter negotiated with the Zelensky regime, then that chance has been lost,” he said.

As reported by EADailythere are no direct or indirect negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, and no work is being carried out on the security of civilian critical infrastructure facilities. This was announced today by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

Zakharova commented on an article in the Washington Post newspaper, according to which the attack by the Kiev regime’s troops on the Russian Kursk region had disrupted indirect talks between Kiev and Moscow in Qatar.

After August 6, the whole world saw the reaction of the Ukrobanderovites to the Russian gesture of goodwill – the peaceful proposals of the President of the Russian Federation – “a bandit raid on the Kursk region, their atrocities against the civilian population, targeted killings of doctors, rescue workers and volunteers, attacks on civilian vehicles, missile attacks on residential buildings, large-scale looting and even the creation of threats to nuclear security,” she noted.

“Of course, as Vladimir Putin said, there is nothing to discuss with people who do such things,” the Foreign Ministry representative concluded.
