Registration for garden workshops open in autumn

The City of Beverly Hills Community Services is offering a new four-part gardening series for adults beginning September 8 at the Greystone Mansion & Gardens Demonstration Garden, 905 Loma Vista Drive in Beverly Hills. Classes run through November 3rd and are held on Sundays from 10:00am to 11:30pm. The Greystone Demonstration Garden is a dedicated outdoor space at Greystone Mansion and Gardens where people can come together to learn about and promote the benefits of locally grown, sustainable and cost-effective organic food.

The four-part gardening series for adults includes the following workshops: How to Start a Winter Vegetable Garden, September 8; How to Start a Herb, Spice and Tea Garden, September 22; Indoor Gardening – How to Care for Your Houseplants, October 27, and The Birds of Greystone, November 3.

Those who sign up for the four-part series get four courses for the price of three. Individual courses cost $19 each ($15 for Beverly Hills residents). There are also still spots available for the last summer gardening class, “How to Plant a Pollinator Garden,” on August 25.

A gardening workshop for children will take place on October 6. In the class, children will learn the basics of gardening, including seasonal activities such as sowing seeds, soil preparation, transplanting and harvesting fresh produce.

In addition, all are welcome to attend the Saturday Morning Garden Club on November 2 at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers will help with garden and grounds maintenance. Registration is required for volunteering in the demonstration garden and for all gardening classes. Register at beverlyhills.org/bhrec and click on the Greystone Park tab.
