Kochi, Aug 18 (PTI) – The Cyber Crime Investigation Wing of Kerala Police has registered a case against him on charges of creating a fake Instagram username in the name of former Chief Justice of High Court AJ Desai and demanding money in his name.
On August 17, the Cyber Crime police station here registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the IT Act based on a complaint filed by Desai’s PA.

According to the FIR, the unidentified accused had created an Instagram page in the name of Desai, who had resigned from the post of Kerala High Court judge on July 4 this year.
The accused then sent a message to the PA and the former Chief Justice’s assistant on August 13, demanding money.

A case has been registered under sections 318(4) (cheating) and 319(2) (identity theft) of the BNS and sections 66 C (identity theft) and 66D (cheating by identity theft using computer resources) of the IT Act.
