Anne-Marie is looking for new “assholes” to write songs about.

The “Rockabye” singer is looking for love stories – whether they are heartbreaking or not – to inspire him to write new lyrics after a “break” from music.

In an interview with the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, the 30-year-old singer said: “I actually took a break for the first time ever. I basically just realised that I hadn’t stopped writing for maybe seven years. But after the second album came out, I had to think about what the next idea was to live and experience some assholery!”

The “Ciao Adios” singer, whose second LP “Therapy” came out in July 2021, has vowed to become more independent in 2022 as her anxiety prevents her from doing many things that other people take for granted.

Anne-Marie said: “I decided to do something alone because I’ve never done anything alone before – travelling. I haven’t been to the shops alone, I haven’t done anything because I’m so scared!”

The pop star, who released his first album, Speak Your Mind, in 2018, was held back by “the fear of doing something wrong” and decided to start with an evening at the Savoy Theatre’s production of Pretty Woman.

She said: ‘Fearing that I would do something wrong, I decided to go to the theatre alone and see a show in the West End.

“I went online and booked the tickets myself. It seems so stupid, but I had never done that before.”

Anne-Marie admits that it was a really “cool day” for her to see the musical adaptation of the 1990 romantic film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere because it represented a milestone for her.
