Arkansas’ jukebox is ready to play music

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — Anyone familiar with the Arkansas football program will be familiar with coach Sam Pittman’s manner. Players were asked which of Pittman’s words of wisdom they liked best, and there was a clear favorite among the players.

Turn on the jukebox.

With fall camp officially coming to an end on Saturday, there are only 12 days left until the Razorbacks football team turns on the jukebox for the first time.

Never mind that a key offensive player missed most of fall training camp due to a persistent back injury after the unit posted one of the worst statistics in the country a year ago.

Still, the Hogs are still trying to figure out how to replace kicker Cam Little, and that battle isn’t over yet.

Never mind that a quarterback who has never played a minute of college football at a Power Four school is being thrust into the spotlight at an SEC school. The quarterbacks also threw eight interceptions in the last scrimmage, but with the caveat that they attribute some of that to the receivers.

Never mind that an entire linebacker room is being replaced by transfers and a core of receivers is full of returners who all need to take a step forward.

The speculation is over. The record is 0-0. Fall camp is over. Even though fans and media have been disappointed so many times, they will be eagerly awaiting the first song to come out of the jukebox.

The resulting tune could be a chart-topping hit or a disastrous cacophony of nonsense, but that’s the beauty of football.

The season officially begins on August 29 at 6:30 p.m. against UAPB at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
