“Poltergeist” house comes to market “without ghostly antics”

The horror film house comes onto the market just in time for the horror season

Horror movie fans can now live out their wildest dreams, because the poltergeist House has come on the market!

The 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home is being sold by Lauren Murdock with Equity Union and was listed for $1,174,999. The home was the setting for the 1982 supernatural horror film, which was directed by Tobe Hopper and co-produced by Steven Spielberg. TMZ was the first to report the news.

Aside from the house’s haunted past, the property has an even greater appeal – the house is now a listed building for the first time in 45 years.

The single-family home at 4267 Roxbury Street, less than an hour outside of Los Angeles in Simi Valley, California, “is the house where much of the first movie in the series was filmed,” Equity Union’s press release states. The agency insists that “this house is clean.”

Equity Union claims the Southern California property is “ready to welcome a new family, without the spooky antics.”

“We’re getting quite a bit of interest in the property,” Murdock tells PEOPLE about the 2,400-square-foot home in Ventura County.

The house has a spacious living room with large windows that provide plenty of natural light.

“From the formal dining room you enter the infamous kitchen, which fans of the film will love and which is still preserved in its original form, with modern appliances of course!” the listing continues.

There’s also a fireplace perfect for snuggling up with the family and an office space that can be converted into an additional bedroom. There’s also a powder room and laundry room on the main level.

If you go upstairs (hopefully avoiding any ghosts), you will come to four bedrooms.

The master bedroom features stunning vaulted ceilings as well as a spacious bathroom with a huge soaking tub, double vanities, a separate shower area and a large walk-in closet.

The remaining three bedrooms share a bathroom in the hallway.

Additionally, there is a three-car garage that gives the home ample storage space. The backyard also features a large pool and hot tub, perfect for gatherings and family time.

poltergeist follows the Freelings, a family of five who are terrorized by ghosts before their youngest child is kidnapped by the supernatural visitors.

The 1982 film grossed $121.7 million at the box office. Two more films followed, including Poltergeist II: The Other Side in 1986 and Poltergeist III in 1988. A remake was also released in 2015.
