Grant Williams has a new hobby that is already proving lucrative.
The Charlotte Hornets forward started collecting basketball cards on Friday and was immediately successful. At the Fanatics Fest in New York, Williams revealed that he had purchased a rare Luka Dončić card that was worth “at least $100,000.”

Williams said he bought a National Treasures box for $10,500 and it ended up containing a rare Dončić rookie card that features a patch from his jersey and his autograph. The card also gets a nine out of 10 rating for condition.
Williams said he has already received offers of $250,000, $300,000 and even $500,000 for the card, but he wants to see if his former teammate has a better offer before selling it.
“I said I have to give Luka the right of first refusal just because he would buy this for a million, I bet,” Williams said. “… I spoke to him twice on FaceTime, he didn’t answer. He’s in Slovenia right now. So he’s going to call me back and I’m going to talk to him about it because this is absurd.”
In addition to the valuable Dončić card, Williams said he also pulled rare Jayson Tatum and Anthony Edwards cards, which isn’t a bad haul considering it’s his first day of collecting.
Williams said he has collected Pokémon cards in the past, but decided to try his hand at basketball cards this week. After the luck he had on Friday, it seems like it will continue to be his hobby.
