Not all rides at Disney World are the same. In fact, not all vehicles at Disney World are the same.
It’s probably no surprise that we consider ourselves Disney World experts, since we’ve tried every single attraction in the parks over and over again. But if you’re going to the parks for the very first time, beware of these uncomfortable rides!
Let’s face it – we all know how uncomfortable the Space Mountain rides are at Magic Kingdom in Disney World. And if you didn’t know, you know now – just trust us. Getting on and off these tiny rides is a test of endurance and not for the faint of heart (or tall people).
But Space Mountain isn’t the only ride at Disney World that we have complaints about, so we’re ranking it from “Pretty Comfortable” to, well, “Space Mountain.”
DINOSAUR
At Dinoland USA in Animal Kingdom, DINOSAUR is an attraction not to be trifled with for a number of reasons – but the vehicles may be the biggest draw. This “all-terrain” truck lives up to its name, shoving you around and into the people next to you – strangers or not.
Peter Pan’s Flight
The rides on this classic Magic Kingdom attraction aren’t too bad overall, but getting on them might leave you with some bruises. Watch your head when you get on the flying boat so you don’t hit the sail!
Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Escape
While the rides at Smugglers Run at Hollywood Studios aren’t necessarily unpleasant, this attraction requires coordination and cooperation among members of your group, so you may be left in the dust.
Rock’n’Roller Coaster with Aerosmith
Caution for tall people! This ride is a little tight and tall people may want to reserve the front row so they can stretch their legs properly. It is a stretch limo after all.
Jungle Cruise
There’s nothing more awkward than a boat full of people who don’t want to laugh at the skipper’s silly jokes. In addition, the seating arrangement on any boat can be a bit odd.
Frozen – Until the End of Her Days
Not only is it a little uncomfortable to get on the Frozen Ever After boats in EPCOT, but there’s also a chance they’ll be wet when you do. This is also your warning that you might get wet on this ride!
Kilimanjaro Safaris
If you’ve ever wanted to be crammed into an open-top safari truck with sweaty strangers in the Florida heat, we’ve got just the thing for you! Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom is an iconic ride you absolutely must do, but keep in mind that you might get to know your neighbors pretty well in the process!
Big Thunder Mountain Railway
Legend has it that the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad can dissolve kidney stones, and we believe it. The vehicles aren’t too bad, but you get shaken and thrown around. It’s not called the wildest ride in the wilderness for nothing.
Tower of Terror
If you suddenly fall to your death in the Tower of Terror, you’ll probably want to grab the handles on either side of your seat – but so will the person next to you! This can get a little awkward if you’re sitting next to someone you don’t know. Or it could be the start of a romantic comedy (sure, Iger, you can use that idea – just write us a check!)
Mission SPACE
It is a replica of a space shuttle. We don’t need to go into that any further.
Mine Train of the Seven Dwarves
Although the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is one of the most popular rides at Magic Kingdom, the roller coaster vehicles are certainly not popular. The lap bars are often tight, so keep that in mind before you ride.
AVATAR: Flight of Passage
Flight of Passage is one of two Disney World rides that requires you to sit on the ride, which is inherently uncomfortable. That, coupled with the fact that this ride “breathes” like a banshee Avatar makes for an unpleasant ride.
AstroOrbiter
Want to get in a tiny metal elevator and then into an even smaller metal tube that shoots around Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom? Then Astro Orbiter is for you. It’s certainly not for us, but hey, we’re not judging.
TRON Light Bike / Running
The TRON vehicles are designed like “lightcycles” (fancy futuristic motorcycles) where you sit astride the bike and hold your back legs in position via bars that come down the back. Many people find the ride uncomfortable and they bump into the wrong places. Thankfully there is a modified vehicle for those who are uncomfortable with the standard vehicle!
Space Mountain, clear
Of course, we didn’t really need to do it again, but who are we kidding? That’s how uncomfortable the Space Mountain cars at Disney World are. They are low and hard to squeeze into, and there really isn’t much legroom!
No matter what you think of these Disney World rides, one thing is for sure: We’ll be on the lookout for all the latest updates and news from Disney World, so stay tuned to AllEars for more!
