GLASGOW, Kentucky – Two people face drug charges following a traffic stop in Glasgow.
According to a unified complaint, Glasgow police observed a man with an outstanding arrest warrant driving through the intersection of West Main and Outer Loop around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police said they stopped the vehicle and asked Sabatino Basile, 32, of Glasgow, to get out.
A passenger named Heather Basile, 38, was arrested after police said she was holding a bag of pills.
After searching the vehicle, police found a suspected fentanyl pill on the upper center console. The pill was located just a few feet away from two small children who were sitting in the back seat.
Basile also had over $350 in cash.
Both Sabatino Basile and Heather Basile were arrested and taken to the Barren County Detention Center.
Sabatino Basile was charged with probation violation, first degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), first degree reckless endangerment, and first degree possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl).
Heather Basile was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, a first offense (drug unspecified), first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), promoting contraband – fentanyl, carfentanil or derivatives, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia – purchase/possession.
