Power outages, storm damage in New England – NECN

Tens of thousands of people were without power Thursday as severe storms downed trees and toppled power lines across New England.

At 5:40 p.m., MEMA reported that about 11,800 people were without power. At that time, reports of downed trees and power lines began pouring in. Eversource also reported hundreds of power outages in Connecticut and New Hampshire.

Heavy storms caused a tree to fall in Acton near the Maynard border on Thursday.

On Thursday, a large tree was spotted on Parker Street in Acton, not far from the Maynard city limits.

In Framingham, officials warned that Bethany Road at Winthrop Road was closed due to downed power lines. Drivers coming from Ashland were warned to take a detour to reach Route 135.

In Newton, residents described the moment when a tree fell in front of their house, narrowly missing the building.

During storms on Thursday, a falling tree narrowly missed a home in Newton, Massachusetts.
