Get your Halloween costumes cleaned and ready to wear; LeBron James, Bronny James and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers will visit Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for the only time of the 2024–25 season on October 30 in the second home game of the season for the Cavaliers.
The NBA released the regular season schedules for all 30 NBA teams on August 15. The Cavaliers begin play in Toronto on October 23 and play their first home game on October 25 at 7:30 p.m. against the Detroit Pistons. This game will be a little more exciting as the Pistons are coached by JB Bickerstaff, who was fired by the Cavs at the end of last season. One night later, the Cavs will face the Washington Wizards on the road.
Based on the final 2024 slate, this is a way for the Cavs to ease into the grueling 82-game season under new head coach Kenny Atkinson. None of their first three opponents made the playoffs. The Cavs finished fourth in the Eastern Conference last year at 48-34 and were eliminated by the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Cavaliers will appear on national television 16 times — four road games on TNT (Nov. 19 at Boston, Jan. 14 at Indiana, Feb. 25 at Orlando and April 10 at Indiana). They will appear four times on ESPN (Nov. 1 vs. Orlando, Feb. 21 vs. the Knicks, Feb. 28 at Boston and March 5 vs. Miami). They will appear eight times on NBA television — Nov. 4 vs. Milwaukee, Nov. 9 vs. Brooklyn, Nov. 29 at Atlanta, Dec. 5 vs. Denver, Dec. 20 vs. Milwaukee, Jan. 27 vs. Detroit, March 2 vs. Portland and April 11 at the Knicks.
There are four holiday games on the schedule. On Veterans Day (November 11th) they will play against the Bulls in Chicago, on Thanksgiving Eve (November 27th) they will host the Hawks, on New Year’s Eve they will host the Lakers in Los Angeles and on Martin Luther King Day (January 20th) they will host the Phoenix Suns.
The Cavs have 16 consecutive games on their schedule. March will be their busiest month with 16 games.
After the turn of the year 2025, they will only have one home game on a Saturday. On January 18th, they will host the Minnesota Timberwolves. Their only other Saturday game in 2025 will be a week later, when they host the Houston Rockets.
