BRELAND recently lost the hard drive on which countless of his song ideas were stored.
“It was devastating,” the 29-year-old singer-songwriter tells PEOPLE from his home in New Jersey after a recent trip to the UK. “I could probably recreate most of them, and I have bits of the tracks in my email and in different places…”
His voice trails off as country music’s creative titan reflects on everything stored on his hard drive, but BRELAND knows inspiration will strike again.
“Inspiration can come in a million different ways and at a million different times,” explains BRELAND. “I value songwriting very much. Even if I were doing something else, I would still write songs for fun, just because it means a lot to me and is part of my way of communicating with the world as a human being and categorizing and organizing my thoughts.”

And although BRELAND has told his own story in songs like “Cross Country,” he is now actively seeking new ideas to unleash his creative powers because, deep down, he believes everyone has a story to tell.
“Everything has a story that needs to be told,” says BRELAND, who burst onto the music scene in 2019 with his platinum-selling debut single “My Truck.” “You just have to know how to tell it. Anytime I get the chance to tell stories through music, it’s really my favorite thing to do. I think that’s my purpose as a human being on this planet.”
