Randy Orton – “My wife will tell me when it’s time to retire”

Randy Orton trusts that his wife will be honest with him when the day comes when the 14-time WWE World Champion can no longer step into the ring.

There has been a lot of talk about Orton’s retirement in recent years, and during his long absence due to a back injury, doctors advised him to retire.

Speaking to Cody Rhodes on the podcast What Do You Want to Talk About?, Orton talked about his inevitable retirement from the ring and when he will know when to stop. He said:

“To answer your question honestly, I think I’m going to do this as long as I can and make sure I do that. We’ve spoken to my wife Kim a couple of times, she told me, ‘When it’s time to hang it up, I’ll tell you.’ When that’s the time I have to hang it up, I don’t want to go here. I don’t want to retire and have one last game and then leave the company and have another last game and another and another.

“Like John (Cena). When he says, ‘This is my last Royal Rumble. This is my last Elimination Chamber. This is my last WrestleMania,’ he means it. If anyone ever meant it, it’s him. I want to do the same. When it’s all said and done and it’s over, I want it to be over. I want to take it to that point and then tear it down and ride off into the sunset.”

Orton is currently feuding with GUNTHER and will challenge the WWE World Heavyweight Champion on August 31st at Bash in Berlin.

The event will be Orton’s first singles opportunity at a World Championship since September 2021 and GUNTHER’s first pay-per-view defense of the gold medal.
