New CB&S Bank in downtown Tuscaloosa opens after ceremonial ribbon cutting

A new community bank has opened in the heart of downtown Tuscaloosa. On Wednesday afternoon, those responsible met there for a ceremonial opening ceremony.

CB&S Bank, a $2.6 billion financial institution headquartered in Russellville, Alabama, has completed extensive renovations and moved into its new building on University Boulevard next to City Hall.

The location is one of more than 50 the bank has in Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi.

The building is virtually unrecognizable with its new covered balcony and fresh brick facade that matches the downtown aesthetic.

On Wednesday, dignitaries including University of Alabama President Stuart Bell, Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and CB&S Bank President and CEO Mike Ross were on hand to celebrate the building’s renovation and the bank’s grand opening in the downtown area.

In a press release distributed before the event, the bank explained that this new, two-story downtown bank is “a full-service retail and commercial bank that handles all your banking needs,” and also includes treasury management, mortgage services and financial services.

“This is a real win for our downtown,” said Kyle South, president and CEO of the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce. “The more opportunities like this we have, the better off we are as a community.”

personal and business needs,” they said in their press release. “We are committed to investing in the communities we serve and look forward to continued growth in the Tuscaloosa market. If you are looking for a new bank, we are pleased to welcome you to CB&S Bank.”
