We knew it was only a matter of time before we found a haute couture Raspberry Pi accessories, and that’s it. Manufacturer and developer Kim Paulsson has released an amazing update for his Raspberry Pi Pico Clock that was so great that we had to share it. If this project looks familiar to you, it is because we have a previous version this Pico Clock a few months ago, while I was completely blown away by the LEDs and custom RP2040 board, today however we are excited to introduce a few new features that really bring the design to the next level.

Before we get into it, it’s important to know what exactly he created. The clock is made from a round, custom-made circuit board that Paulsson designed. The perimeter is covered with 60 LEDs that are used to display the time. A different color is used to display the hour, minute and second in real time. A Winbond 25Q1281VSQ is included for about 8MB of flash memory.

Let’s get the basics out of the way right from the start: this is an RP2040-based project. But there’s no reason you couldn’t build something similar using the newly released RP2350, the heart of the new Raspberry Pi Pico 2. That being said, we’ve already covered a few RP2350 projects, including a tiny keychain console and a DefCon 32 badge that plays Doom, in case you want to see some of the latest creations from the maker community.
