Small home office ideas to create a perfect petite WFH setup

In recent years, the rise of flexible working hours has made having a workspace a must. The days of balancing a laptop on an ironing board may be behind us, but making room for a full-fledged home office can be difficult. This is where small home offices come in very handy, making the most of what we have.

Home offices can be redesigned to work effectively even in smaller spaces. You just need to plan more carefully. With some smart investments and clever furniture choices, you can create a stylish desk area that boosts productivity.

First of all, you obviously need to decide which room you want to turn into a home office or which space you want to use from inside. Do you want to use a storage room or a kitchen corner, hide under the stairs or turn a closet into an office? No room is too small to set up a workspace.

Next, you’ll want to think about lighting. “Finding the right lighting and breathing new life into a once dark and gloomy part of your home can be as motivating as your first coffee of the morning,” says Natalie Mann, new product development coordinator at Iconic Lights. “To make the most of your space, invest in an angled task light. It allows you to create a wide beam of light or a more focused spotlight depending on your needs.”

Finally, storage and furniture can come into play. “Choosing the right furniture for your office is extremely important to make the most of the space,” says Juliette Thomas, founder and director of Juliettes Interiors. “Try to buy furniture that has a dual function. Think of a desk, but with storage underneath where you can keep paperwork and other items. Even if it’s a multifunctional space, make sure you have storage to store anything that’s not work-related. No one works optimally when they’re surrounded by laundry!”
